PNBAA 6th Annual Safety Day
The Pacific Northwest Business Aviation Association (PNBAA) would like to announce our sixth annual Safety Day to be held on April 3, 2014 at the Museum of Flight on Boeing Field in Seattle, WA. The topic of discussion will be human factors as they relate to aviation personnel, organizations, and operations.
The first PNBAA Safety Day was an overwhelming success. Human factors that influence aeronautical decision making and performance was our focus, and from the overwhelming positive feedback, we feel that we met our goal. Speakers at prior PNBAA Safety Days have included, Dr. Tony Kern, CEO of Convergent Performance Dr. Mark Rosekind, presently a member of the NTSB and a national recognized expert on fatigue, Dr. Earl Weiner, also a member of the NTSB, who has extensive experience in studies on aviation safety, Sean Roberts, formerly of the National Test Pilot School, John Nance, author, Bob Agustino, father of Bombardier Safety Standdown, Greg Feith, retired NTSB investigator, Captain Gregory C. Johnson, (USN Ret) NASA Astronaut, John Goglia, Independent Air Safety Consultant and former NTSB board member, Ms. Leigh White, owner Alertness Solutions, and Robert Sumwalt, member of the NTSB.
Luncheon speakers have included; Captain Al Haynes, pilot of United Flight 232, Jonna Doolittle Hoppes, the granddaughter of General Jimmy Doolittle, Captain Brian Udell, who spoke of ejecting from an F-15 Strike Eagle at 800 mph over the Atlantic Ocean, and the Honorable Robert Sumwalt.
Speakers that will be participating in Safety Day 2014 are; Chris Lutat Convergent Performance, who will speak on Automation Airmanship. Jeannine Falter, PhD, and Steve Gade or John Slieter, all of Duncan Aviation, who will present "Leadership - The Soft Stuff Doesn't Have To Be The Hard Stuff". They gave this presentation at NBAA 2013. Paul S. Ratte, Director of Aviation Safety Programs at USAIG, and a retired decorated Coast Guard pilot, and Gary Cooke, a corporate pilot and Aviation Safety Director, will speak on runway excursions. Our lunch speaker will be Dr. Story Musgrave, who has seven graduate degrees in math, computers, chemistry, medicine, physiology, literature and psychology, and 20 honorary doctorates. As a NASA astronaut for over 30 years, he has flown six space flights. A down-to-earth pilot and a dynamic speaker!
A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided. A social event will be held after the safety presentations are completed. Cost per attendee is $120.
